Most dermal fillers are small injections containing hyaluronic acid that fill in wrinkles, enhance certain facial features and add volume to soft tissue. Hyaluronic acid is naturally-occurring  in your skin but decreases in quantity as you age, resulting in sagging cheeks, under-eye circles, and thin lips.  Fillers will help restore lost volume to your face and enhance areas to improve the fullness and youthfulness in your face for younger, tighter-looking skin and fuller lips.

The most visible signs of aging are caused by volume loss.  Loss of bone, muscle, and fat pads changes the shape of the face from the youthful “V” into an upside down “V”. While loss of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin layers results in the formation of lines, wrinkles, and sagging.

Contour deformities and imbalance of facial proportions are the most common complaints as they cannot be improved by healthy living or willpower.

You should avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for about a week before treatment.  You should provide a complete list of your medications and products to ensure they are compatible with facial injection

Depending on what we are treating, different strategic points on your face are marked as the best injection sites for the filler. An antibacterial agent and numbing cream is applied to minimize pain. Most fillers contain numbing lidocaine to minimize discomfort as well. The filler is then injected through the marked areas to the precise depth with needle or cannula.

Each injection takes only a few minutes per injection site.  Depending on your treatment plan, the time can range from 15 to 45 minutes.  We take our time to address all your questions before starting, and you should expect to take before and after pictures, so the total door to door time may be about 60 minutes.

Most patient’s goals are achieved in a single treatment.

Although it can take a couple of weeks for the full result to materialize, you will see 70% or more of the effect immediately.  Depending on the product and/or areas treated, most results from dermal fillers last 6 to 12 months.

Pain is minimal. While the injection is not painless, they are easily tolerated.  We have successfully treated many patients with needle phobia, so you can do this.

There is essentially no down time, although you may have some mild redness in the treatment area.  Depending on the area treated, you may be given specific instructions for activity modifications for 24 hours.
