How does it work?
Icon™ utilizes fractional laser technology to deliver specialized pulses of energy into your skin and targeting your unwanted pigment, wrinkles, stretch marks or scars without causing harm to the surrounding skin. Once the energy is absorbed into the skin, your body’s natural healing process will begin creating new, healthy skin in the area that was treated.
How do I prepare for treatment?
You will need to avoid tanning for at least six weeks prior to your treatment session. You should inform us about all the medications and products you may be using.
You will also need to shave any thick hair from your desired treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
How is the procedure performed?
After ensuring adequate skin preparation, your provider will use the comfortable fluid-cooled laser and/or IPL heads to systematically cover the entire treatment area with a uniform pattern with a small overlap between each application of the light energy. If desired, we then apply further cooling comfort. An anaesthetic cream can be applied before laser treatments.
How long does each treatment take?
Depending on the area(s) being treated, an anaesthetic pre-soak can be done for 20 to 45 minutes. Actual treatment can last from a few minutes up to 1 hour. Most treatments are about 20 minutes.
How many treatments are needed?
This depends on the condition of your skin, and your goals. We normally exceed patient expectations with 3 treatments.
When will I see results and how long do results last?
Redness tends to improve during treatment, and this improvement is evident within days of the treatment. Brown spots will first darken and then come out of the skin over about a week or so following treatment. Improvements in fine lines and wrinkles continue to improve as collagen production is stimulated for up to 3-6 months following treatment.
Is treatment painful?
Most describe it as feeling like a “hot rubber band” being snapped against your skin. We use the latest in fluid-cooled devices for comfort, and the treatment will be custom-tailored to your tolerance.
What is recovery like?
There is essentially no down-time with Icon Laser Photofacials. You may have slight redness, and mild swelling in the skin for a day or so after treatment.
