Scars

Uncontrolled acne is a common cause of skin scarring. There are many more reasons you may have scarring of your skin.

Skin scarring is not just physical. Your face is always on display, and scars can be a social stigma that affects every aspect of your life. But we can change that.

Scarring Defined:

A scar is an area of fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after an injury. Scars form when the dermis (deep layer of skin) is damaged. The skin forms new collagen fibres to mend the damage, but it gets laid down in a dense formation that disrupts the original smoothness of the skin, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue. This can take the form of stretch marks, atrophic (thin), or keloid (thick), and acne scars are often described as being ice-pick, or boxcar, or rolling scars.
